Our Story

Not all beans are made equally. Some beans are only capable of producing freeze-dried instant coffee. There should be a shelf of canned beans in supermarket stores.

But some beans have grandeur written all over them. These beans are the ones that are allowed to visit Bean Tree Cafe. They arrive in 150-pound bags to us "green." We roast five pounds of those beans at a time.

Not a roast that is "one size fits all," but a customized roast that brings out the best flavors of that particular bean. 

We roast small batches twice weekly to ensure that we serve and sell the freshest coffee you can get.

The Inspiration Behind Kabsanka!

Our journey with coffee is one we could never have predicted. We knew we wanted to accomplish something meaningful and intentional with this venture, but when we got started, we realized how much there was to learn.

Coffee is one of the most sought-after commodities in the world and one of the favorite elements of our everyday lives. Many of us take coffee at face value — the bagged grounds we see on grocery store shelves, the pot we prepare every morning. However, when we learned more about where our coffee is sourced and the trip it takes to get to us, we discovered how much more potential coffee had. The ability to expose previously unknown stories.

The farmers who provide our coffee come from a wide range of backgrounds, and the practice of growing this commodity has the potentially alter communities and livelihoods worldwide. Our purpose is to develop deeper relationships via coffee by teaching people about where it originates from and how we can improve the lives of those who produce it.
